A return to the origins, to the conception of the primitives and at the same time exalted for modernity are the characteristics of the thought of the movement born in London in 1848 of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. They have an enemy in mainstream academic art. They have a clear, detailed style, refined lighting, an elegant design, all imbued with romanticism.

The main protagonists are the young Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais.

Their victim should be Raphael and beauty as an autonomous world. The Pre-Raphaelites sought a return to nature.

The Forlì exhibition recounts this brief but incisive artistic movement of the nineteenth century.
